Thanks in advance

Dear MIL,
Join me in a fun trip down memory lane.

Thanksgiving 2005.
You made a big deal about us visiting.
We offered to cook, you declined.
You served turkey lunchmeat on partially thawed white bread.
Four adults shared two boiled potatoes.

My grandmother loves to cook. Loves to entertain. Loves to make enough food to feed an army. Please do not drag out your Easter "lunch" celebration to the point that I again miss her steamy hot mashed potatoes in exchange for a brown bag lunch. I thank you in advance for your co-operation.

Stingy food preparation, especially at holiday time, really chaps my hide. I grew up in a household where we went out of our way to make holiday meals special. Anything less is a major disappointment.
It's just our family this Easter, and I plan to cook a nice holiday meal. If my parents or brother or inlaws were coming, I'd cook enough to feed an army.
I've been to meals where the person cooking is stingy and cooks barely enough for everyone... forget about seconds. It makes you feel awkward and almost guilty when you serve yourself from the very limited available portions. I'm not talking about there being a lack of money to buy food either.

Hey, I think your MIL is my mother. :)

Except for the cooking bit, my mum cooks well, even if somewhat half-heartedly.

Love this site. Here from Michele's.
