Don't Bother Asking

Dear MIL,

I was very flattered you asked about what was going on in my life and initially appeared interested in what I had to say. However, if you were not serious about listening to me and only planned on paying attention for two minutes, don't bother asking me to detail my life's events. In case you are wondering, it is not polite to jump up in the middle of someone's sentence to run over and welcome your "favorite" son (not my husband) into the room and then turn to me and say "Oh, you were done, right?"

Your DIL

I swear, your MIL and mine must have been twins separated at birth!! This exact same thing happened to me this past summer.

I was telling my MIL how I've lost 89 lbs and the minute BIL comes in, she says "that's nice dear, but David's here." Ugh!

She just needed some back ground noise so the ugly voices that bounce around in her head would be drowned out for a couple of minutes.

You weren't done? Yeah, my mother (not my MIL) is guilty of that.

Just wanted to post my own grip today, After I agreed to let my son go to your house 3 HOURS away AGAIN (making it 2 times this month) you MIL forget to let my oldest know that she will be unable to attend your lunch meeting half-way where you will be picking up her brother. SO Thank you so much for the complete melt down i had to handle this morning. It was lovely really. Also if you could please keep the new promise you made today, to YOUR SON about coming this weekend. He really might need your help since you know ILL BE ON STRICT BEDREST AND ALL!!!! But I guess I can bribe him with a trip to the zoo to stop the crying!!!

Okay, I've read enough....this is hilarious! I wish I knew about this site sooner. My DH and I haven't spoken directly to MIL since April, and before that, I think it was three times since January and then as far back as August.
